We have Amy Tennent of Milo & Mitzy blog fame to thank this week for sharing this getaway retreat designed by New Zealand based architect Andy Coltart.
Influenced by the inherent natural beauty of the Hawkes Bay region, the locally born architect designs contemporary homes that exude a sense of both character and charm. The use of raked ceiling and exposed rafters together with tongue and groove panelling and timber joinery have become what could arguably be defined as Colthart’s design signature.
Classical in style and contemporary by nature, this two bedroom retreat adjoining Black Barn Vineyards can be found nestled into the foothills of Te Mata Peak, overlooking the North Island’s Tuki Tuki Valley. Should either the homes design or the setting pull you in, Poplars 2 can be booked through Black Barn Retreats here.
